In case you missed it above until November 15th, for every 5 Minion Points you earn you can request a coupon good for $5 off a badge, up to $20 off the total.
As a result we’re going to offer a special option for those who want to give Minion Points a try, but aren’t sure exactly how it can help.
So if you earn just a few points you can save some green, really push it and you can drop the price pretty effectively.
The coupon you earn will be usable until Feb 2011, so you can decide how to use it after you earn the points.
So submit your points now, and claim the coupon before November 15th! The coupon cannot be combined with other discounts or offered.

Perhaps you could feature an art gallery of work by LARP’ers. I don’t know how artistic they are, but they are sure creative, and I am sure some would like to show off their paintings, drawings, sculpture and so forth.
What do you think? Would you submit art for display?

What if Wyrd Con held a Artisan Workshop series?A set of smaller classes providing initial education on how to make things from Chainmail to Perfume? Instead of a talk or lecture on a topic those going in would walk out with a tangible item they started or created. There would likely be a materials charge for such workshops.

Transparency
Aug 31st
One of the interesting things about Wyrd Con is in many ways we try to be transparent about our processes and show the evolution of how things change through the convention development process.
The downside to this is things can change more frequently, and some people may be confused. Is it more interesting to see the evolution of the schedule and events, or better to only to provide information when we’ve determined it’s final resting place?

A breakdown of Starship Valkyrie
Christian Brown posted his experiences of running the event ‘Starship Valkyrie’ at Wyrd Con One this year.
Starship ValkyrieThe Valkyrie LARP ran at Wyrdcon One, June 12th, 2010. I had worked on the game for many months prior to that date, and I was uncertain whether I would have enough players to run. I decided to prepare two scenarios – in the first, the ship would be run with a skeleton crew because of an accident in space, and then the second would be the full combat scenario. I was prepared to run with as few as ten players. I ended up with twenty-six.
To read the full posting see his blog at http://citizenbrown.livejournal.com/ - The scotch tasting is a go. However there are only 10 seats for this event.
When registration opens near Labor Day grab one while you can!

- Ducks! If you were at Wyrd One you might have realized the ducks were there… watching, trying to escape.
Apparently the attendees failed to capture them all. So some of them are still in the hotel plotting for next year. What are the ducks doing between conventions?

WyrdCon Game Sprays
Do you play Half-life 2 Deathmatch. Left4dead, Left4dead2, Team Fortress 2 or other Source Steam games that use game sprays? Here is the official WyrdCon game spray.http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1793415/twowyrd.vtf
To use in source games install the file to these locations
* \Steam\steamapps\username>\team fortress 2\tf\materials\VGUI\logos\
* \Steam\steamapps\username>\team fortress 2\tf\materials\VGUI\logos\UI\This can be done in most any source games. Your going to need to change the path to fit the game your installing these to.
username> is typically the name you personally use to log into steam.
After installing the twowryd.vtf file to these locations go in the game you wish to use the spray and go into “options” then “multiplayer”
from here there is a button to import sprays. import the file from the “logos” folder NOT the “ui” folder
- With the submission of a Star Wars LARP we can say with certainty that these are the events you are looking for.
We’re curious what people want to see this coming year. Something different?
Designers want to know what people want to try. Perhaps a game in which everyone is the bad guy trying to defeat the good guys?
Were there some tried and true favorites that we should invite back a second time?

Similar to the normal Jeopardy, only with LARP based questions.
Of course we have a few changes…
1) There will be three teams, each with 3-4 players each.
2) We will be providing each team BEER during the event. Each bottle emptied during the game earns you another 100 points.
3) The winning team recieves free passes to next years Wyrd Con and all the beer that was not consumed during the game.
But to put on this show WE NEED YOUR QUESTIONS! Simply click the Contact Us link and submit your ideas!
If you want to sign up a team (the teams that go up are chosen randomly) all you have to do is submit a contact form with a team name. Your team must be there if called or you forfeit.

Minion Points
Yes there is a way to get a badge, room, or other items comp’d for the convention. We call it minion points. If you start now you could have some crash space for free when the convention rolls around. What do you think of the points scale we have listed? Can you think of other things we can reward for? - Ira has published a new blog post at Wyrd Con

An Apology
It has been brought to my attention that there has been a misunderstanding over a statement I made at the costume contest regarding Tom R’s costume. I stated the costume was not my first choice. This was an unintended, misspoken, and inappropriate joke. The comment was not targeted towards others (nor was I aware of which group Tom was with). I apologize to Tom, Realms of Conflict and everyone for any uneasiness this may have caused.

Event Submission is now open
