These events are “special,” by which we mean outside of our traditional programming of panels, workshops, LARPs, ARGs, and other games. They are social opportunities to get together with your friends, new and old, and enhance the Wyrd Con experience and build its community!
Wyrd Brew: Introductory Cocktail Party
To kick off the Wyrd Con 2012 adventure, Tri Wyrd’s opening gala will be an opportunity to make introductions and get to know other attendees, as well as the designers of the events, panels, and workshops that make up Wyrd Con in a fun, social setting. This event gives an amazing chance to interface with top-level executives, long-time LARP, ARG, and industry professionals within our expanding community.
There will be drinks and desserts to share, some brief and entertaining presentations, ample opportunities to converse and network, and perhaps even a chance to engage in a bit of mischief! The cost for the event is $10, (which includes one drink ticket and a dessert), but its value as a fun experience with some ground-breaking introductory content will be worth much more than a bit of green. Join us and socialize with Game Designers, Hollywood contacts, and some of the industry’s leading visionaries – the people who create the stories you love so much.
In addition, those interested in attending the 1:1 Workshop with Jeff Gomez will be given the chance to sign up and be selected for the Sunday event.
Wake the Dead Dance (Saturday 8pm – ???)
Dance from 8:00 PM till the wee hours of the evening with us as we celebrate the night! Come as your favorite undead zombie, vampire, victim, ghost, ghoul, werewolve, mad scientist or other creepy creature that sets foot after dark. At the stroke of midnight will be the dance of the evening, the Thriller. Join us a half hour before hand to learn this classic graveyard dance and be prepared to help us Wake the Dead.
Character Photography
Photographer: Amanda Mielke
Don your favorite costume and grab your coolest props for a chance to meet one on one or with your group for professional character photos. Recreate your favorite moments, pose dramatically for the camera or simply role play before the camera as the photographer captures your character on film.
There will be ten 5-minute photo sessions. Attendees are encouraged to pre-register. Groups may pre-register as a single participant but will not receive extra camera time. Each participant will receive a CD of their images by mail after the event.
LGL Brunch
Run by: Aaron Vanek
The folks of the Live Game Labs invite everyone to hang out and talk over FREE coffee, mimosas, donuts, bagels, and similar breakfast goodies. Drop by after waking up, even if your makeup is still on. Leave early to shower before catching a plane out or another LARP. We love to meet and greet everyone. This is very casual, just come and enjoy our hospitality. If you need to sign up for an event at the same time, take that other one and just drop by before, after, or during a break. We are asking for RSVPs to indicate roughly how much food and drink to serve.
